TOKY in TDC’s “Typography 31″ Design Review

Larry TOKY will be included in “Typography 31″, the annual review of the Type Director’s Club, the leading international organization whose purpose is to support excellence in typography, both in print and on screen. We’re in with the banners that TOKY’s Katy Fischer created for the Saint Louis Public Library, art directing LA artist Noah Woods. This latest honor means that our Library work has now led to a regional Addy, a silver National Addy, Graphis Design annual, PRINT Design Annual, TDC Annual and AIGA-STL show wins. St. Louis Central Library Banners in Graphis 2010 Annual

Graphis has been pretty good to us in the past, and 2010 is off to a good start. We’ve just learned that the banners we designed for the St. Louis Central Library will be included in the 2010 Graphis Design Annual. STEP Magazine’s Design 100 Annual Awards 3 TOKY Projects including a Reader’s Choice

TOKY got three winners in STEP Magazine’s 2009 Design 100 competition. The 100 Woodfire Grille logo and the new Mackey Mitchell identity have been selected for publication. Additionally, our “Winter White” invitation (pictured below) for the Saint Louis Public Library’s first ever gala was one of just a handful that has been voted in through the Reader’s Choice category!

TOKY in “Really Good Logos Explained,” Including a Judges Choice

TOKY has nine logos in Quayside Publishing’s book “Really Good Logos Explained“, each with nice write-ups about each logo from judges Margo Chase, Rian Hughes, Ron Miriello and Alex White.

Of the 9 logos included, a logo we did for the Pulitzer Foundation’s WATER exhibit was given a Judge’s Choice Award.

“The swirl of ink used here to connote water has the grace of a sume-i character and is integrated beautifully with the industrial sans-serif caps—Din is one of my favorites. The designer resisted the urge to clean things up and left random splatters and blobs that enhance the feeling of artistic authenticity.”
