New Work: NMS Winter Forum for Endowments & Foundations Website

TOKY recently launched an event site for NMS Management, a premier investor-education company based out of New York. NMS puts on several forums each year, providing educational programming to its members, who are mostly senior investment professionals.

The company’s upcoming Winter Forum for Endowments & Foundations is a members-only event taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the end of this month. NMS wanted to highlight their impressive speaker list, share news and updates, list activities and hotel information, and outline the schedule for the forum.

As participants planned to attend the event, NMS wanted the site to be simple to navigate and the information easy to find. Huge photos of Arizona’s landscape set the tone on the homepage, while tabs provide hassle-free navigation.

We programmed this site in Drupal, an open-source content management system. As you’ll see if you click through, the site is password-protected — but we’ll provide you with a sneak-peek below:

The interactive image grid rearranges itself to fit the width of the user’s browser.

Using Drupal, NMS can easily update the schedule and provide the latest information to attendees.

Getting On Board with Metro Transit

Recently, we launched a site for Metro Transit in St. Louis as part of the continuing “I’m On Board with Metro” campaign. As one small facet of this large branding campaign, we helped Metro tell the story of why Transit is so important for the region, despite whether you use it or not. The site shares the stories of seven Metro users to demonstrate that a vital public transit system is critical for the region’s economic well-being. For this site, we designed and directed the site and animation, as well as photographed all of the riders and locations. In addition, we produced the three videos featured on the site, one featured below.

Special thanks to our friends at Driftlab for working with us on the development, as well as Hired Gun & 90 Degrees West for their expertise in filming and editing the videos.

Webby Honoree: Interactive Design for the Arts

For the fifth consecutive year, TOKY’s interactive work has been awarded a Webby honoree. In each of the previous 4 years, TOKY has been awarded for work in the Arts category. This year the results are in, and the site for Ideal (dis-)Placements: Old Masters at the Pulitzer has received honors. Out of the nearly 10,000 entries submitted to the 14th Annual Webby Awards, less than 15% are awarded the status of Official Honorees.

Urban Alchemy / Gordon Matta-Clark Web Catalogue

We recently launched the online catalogue for the current Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts exhibit Urban Alchemy: Gordon Matta-Clark. This site serves as a permanent archive of the exhibition and how it relates to the space designed by Tadao Ando. TOKY designed and developed the site, outdoor pole banners, and some promotional materials for the event.

Interactive Touch Foil Display at the St. Louis Airport

We’ve recently completed design, development and install of new digital signage at the St. Louis International Airport. Using existing glass walls and interactive touch foil, we created 3 experiences for visitors to explore the arch ground activities. 4 weeks from concept this was up and running, just in time for the All-Star Game traffic. Take look if you’re coming in town or heading out, it will be on display until the end of the year.

Grayhawk

TOKY has recently launched a site for Grayhawk. Grayhawk is a 1,800-acre private lakefront property tucked away in one of the most beautiful corners of historic Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri. Upcoming updates to the site will include an in-depth exploration of the map of properties and photography.

Users of the site are also able to pull up the property information, maps and directions easily on a mobile device, so TOKY developed a custom site for the iPhone as well as a version for other mobile devices. Visitors to grayhawkmo.com on a mobile device are redirected to the appropriate site.

Reviews are in for Ideal (Dis-)Placements, Old Masters at the Pulitzer Web Site

Recent reviews regarding the Old Masters at the Pulitzer Web site launched weeks ago:

“The Pulitzer is currently showing Ideal (Dis-)Placements, Old Masters at the Pulitzer. It’s been up since October and it’s received rave reviews. The Pulitzer has just launched the show’s website. No one does single-shows-in-space websites better than the Pulitzer (witness: Dan Flavin, Water) and I wouldn’t miss a one of ‘em.”
Tyler Green, Modern Art Notes

”The show has been up since October…but it is now accompanied by a fascinating, elegant and in many ways exemplary online catalogue… This show — perhaps even more than most — needs to be experienced in the space and light of the real world. But the website offers its own richly involving experience, balancing looking, listening, reading — and looking again.”
John Wyver, Illuminations

The exhibition is currently running through June 20th, so don’t miss this before it is gone forever. More information on the exhibit can be found at the Old Masters Web site or the exhibition site at Pulitzerarts.org

HOKlife.com Feature in Architect Magazine

HOK Life

In addition to designing HOK’s new brand, business papers and various web sites, TOKY recently worked with HOK to design, develop and launch their presence on various social networking tools. Most successfully and significantly was HOK’s effort in making the blog at HOKlife.com work.

More than just an entertaining peek inside an architecture firm’s offices, Life at Hok is a small revolution in corporate communication.

“The blog Life at HOK is important not so much for what it offers—tales from the HOK cubicle as well as snark-free design-related postings, travelogue, commentary, videos, and ephemera—as for what it represents: a blue-chip firm, the kind of outfit one would expect to tightly control all external communication, allowing more than two dozen of its younger staff to express themselves on company time. (Most of the contributors, located around the globe, are under 35.)”

by Braulio Agnese, Architecture Magazine

As a kick-off event for the blog launch, all of the contributors were brought to St. Louis, given flip video cameras, and sent out in groups around town to interview each other and gather footage for some upcoming video spots. Here’s a small collection of some of the highlights from the day:
